Seeing The Things Of God From A Higher View

with one comment

As Christians we go to church, fellowship with other Christians, and do all the things expected of us. We read, pray, and attempt to share our faith with others. Doing these things is fine and is what the average Christian is expected to do. But how about our own spiritual life? Do we see the things of God from the ‘ground level’? We have the tendency to put God in a box. But do we really understand who God is?
I walk out of my house and I can see my entire neighborhood from my front yard. I know that if I look at the same neighborhood from the roof of my house I would get and entirely different view and be able to see more things clearly. If I was to get higher, I would get a view of a much bigger picture. I think it’s the same with the things of God. If we can continue going higher in our spiritual lifes we’ll begin to see the things of God in the bigger picture and begin to take God out of the box. Our understanding begins to expand. Proverbs chapter 2 vs. 1-4 says that IF we do certain things … then verse 5 comes into play. “Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God”. But ONLY after we’ve done the first 4 verses. Understanding the fear of God and finding the knowledge of Him comes only through moving into a higher place in our spiritual lives. Doing Proverbs ch. 2 vs. 1-4 …
Does that make sense?

Christians and gluttony

with 2 comments

I have often pondered the fact that many practicing Christians seems to ignore, omit, and even joke about over-eating to the point of it being detrimental to their health, hence gluttony.

It is a known fact that restaurant’s waitstaffs dread the ‘after-church’ patrons, as they are, by and large, rude, piggish and cheap tippers. What a horrid testimony for the Lord. I think pastors should give messages to their congregations on this disgusting behavior. You hear so many references to the having the right attitude towards rude drivers and traffic incidents; I think its high-time to start addressing issues pertaining to food.

I will be writing more on this subject matter. Be patient and stay with me.

Special to God?

with one comment

I have met people throughout my life who believe that they are special; special to God, if they happen to be of the Christian faith, or just, maybe, special, in general. I even, at one time, and one time only, met a person who openly admitted that they thought they were special to God. The reason they gave for this ‘speciality’ was purely creepy. At any rate, this morning while I was praying the Lord impressed upon me that we all endear ourselves to the Lord when we pray and open our hearts to Him…you know, really pour out our hearts to Him, in humility. Its then, while on our knees in this type of prostrate, humble and heart-felt prayer that God shows us how precious we are to Him…and that is what makes us feel and know how special we are. Jesus wants us all to know this. So, everyone, get on your knees and pray….and just let the Lord do His thing in you.

A story of how the Lord delivered me from a den of ‘cats’

with 2 comments

Well, laugh out loud, and don’t get me wrong, I love cats, ( just got a new ‘booshka’ that I named Dexter. But, the adj., ‘catty’, we all know means ‘nasty, mean and ..well, like how cats get when they get their little attitudes..of cource, it is cute on them.

Anyhow, many years ago, I was in a situation where I lived in a dormatory of sorts with other young ladies my age. I have always been a shy and very insecure soul and I felt very uncomfortable in this situation, as many of these gals were not very nice to me; one in particular was downright cruel and ‘catty’ to me. I felt very sad and really wanted out. Without getting into the particulars, I will tell the part where the Lord, miraculously delivered me, and, to this day when I reflect on this story, I can give glory to Him for truly hearing and answering prayer.

I remember getting on my face and praying for deliverance from this situation. That day I had found a possibility of another station where I could be transferred. I believed that the Lord was capable to doing this for me, if He was only willing, so I prayed…I went into a nearby bathroom, got on my knees and asked to be transferred to this most agreeable dormatory, ( as I stated earlier, I am leaving out the particulars, as it would take volumes trying to explain the hows and the why of where I was and why ). Anyhow, back in the bathroom, I got off my knees after a most heartfelt prayer, and felt that it was truly in God’s hands. I do remember that I really ‘gave’ it to God…and concluded that His will be done.

Later that day, I had read the passage in Hebrews 13:5, “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
I really and truly received that Word into my heart and walked away with faith and victory that the Lord would give me the courage and whatever it took to endure the situation I was in and be a testimony for Him. But..get this…a short time later, it was time for me to go home, ‘the den of cats’ and, so..and I remember this so clearly..on that June evening in 1974, as I walked through the yard to the door, it just like came out of my mouth..”Lord, the moment I walk though the doors of that house, let it be told me that I am transferring to …the other location of my choice’..that was the prayer, but paraphrased for this story. And guess what!?…the very moment I walked through the threshold of ‘the den’, I was informed by, none other than the chief cat, that I was transferring to, none other than, my choice dormatory.

Yes, God answers prayers, especially those prayed on bended knee. And hey, you really don’t want to be the subject prayed for deliverane from. That is another subject altogether. Hope y’all liked my little yarn here.

I have found that when I feel bad about something and ask God to forgive me…sincerely, He does, but, it’s me that has a hard time with forgiving me. I thank the Lord for His mercies. Another thing I have noticed…the Lord REALLY does take extra noticed on bended knee prayer…I could tell you stories.

A beautiful poem about the Holy Bible

with one comment

I have a companion,
A wonderful guide,
A solace and comfort,
Whatever betide;
A friend never-failing,
When others pass by,
Oh blessed communion,
My Bible and I.

According to the Islamic Shariah Law, death is too good for homosexuals. And they are a “plague” to society and should be flogged and tortured publicly and thrown from a tall building. Wow! How’s that “religion of peace” and “tolerance” thing going? What amazes me, is that we never hear any gay rights representatives speak out about this. Well, I guess if I was subject to be openly flogged and tortured and then thrown off a tall building, I’d might be somewhat hesitant to ’speak out’

Proverbs: Ch. 2 vs. 1-5

leave a comment »

Proverbs: chapter 2, verses 1 through 5

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

It’s only after one does all those things one will understand what the fear of the Lord is, and the knowledge of God is attained.
